On 11 Jun 2023, the animal owner applied the product topicaly to the horse. The horse ran away during product application; one side had full product application, the other side had one spray of the product applied. On 12 Jun 2023, the horse developed skin lesions at the areas of application. The lesions were bleeding, oozing, had edema, and were described as welts. On 12 Jun 2023, the animal owner washed the areas of lesions with an unspecified antiseptic soap. On unspecified dates, topical antibiotic and antiseptic products were applied to the lesions. Veterinary care was recommended. No further information is expected.

Assessment: This product has a wide margin of safety. Mild dermal irritation is possible following topical use. The severity of clinical signs in this case is greater than is expected; however individual sensitivities may occur. Agitation may occur secondary to dermal irritation. Other causes should be considered including underlying conditions such as trauma due to fly bites or ectoparasites.
