On 23-Jun-2023, a 2 year old, approximately 2.7 kilogram, neutered, male, Domestic Shorthair cat, in unknown condition, with concomitant medical conditions of flea and flea eggs, was administered 1 tube of Hartz UltraGuard Plus Flea and Tick Drops for Cats (Etofenprox / S Methoprene) via the topical route by the animal owner. Immediately post application, the cat developed hyperactivity and drooling. The cat was not evaluated by a veterinarian, no treatments were performed, and the clinical signs continued. Offering food or water flavored with tuna juice or broth was recommended for oral dilution in case ingestion occurred. Bathing with dish soap for product removal, along with application of Vitamin E oil and cool compresses at the application site was recommended. Monitoring for persistent and worsening signs was also recommended. No further information was received.
