(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
Approximately 8 hours post product application in approximately 2021, the canine exhibited anorexia. The collar was removed and the canine was bathed with an unknown shampoo by the owner. Approximately 1 week post collar removal, the canine died. It was unknown if medical intervention was sought nor if a necropsy examination as performed.
Death
O - Unclassifiable/unassessable Reported anorexia is unspecific and may have numerous other causes. Sign may occur initially after collar administration. Time to onset is consistent. Further death is not expected following appropriate topical product application as inconsistent with products pharmacological profile. Oral exposure to the collar is not expected to cause serious signs either. An overdose of 5 collars around the neck was investigated in adult cats and dogs for an 8 months period and in 10 week old kittens and 7 week old puppies for a 6 months period without causing serious signs. This is supported by the extremely low systemic exposure with imidacloprid and flumethrin, particularly during the first week after application and also thereafter. Moreover, sign occurred after long time after removal of collar, hence product relation can be excluded. Overall, due to limited available information (animal and product details, state of health, circumstances of death and unknown necropsy results), a product involvement is considered unassessable.
