Assessment: This product is considered to have a wide margin of safety in cats. When applied according to labeled instructions this collar can cause mild dermal irritation. With this cat, the collar was not applied according to the label as the extra amount of collar material was not removed. If the extra collar was chewed on or ingested, GI upset such as vomiting or diarrhea could have occurred. Acute onset of death is not expected and other causes such as cardiac disease, respiratory disease, trauma, and toxin exposure should be considered. Necropsy may have provided additional information but was not sought by the animal owner. The information contained in this report is based on self-reported statements provided to the registrant during telephone Interview(s). These self-reported descriptions of an incident have not been independently verified to be factually correct or complete descriptions of the incident. For that reason, information contained in this report does not and cannot form the basis for a determination of whether the reported clinical effects are causally related to exposure to the product identified in the telephone interviews.
