Approximately 2 hours post application, the dog developed lethargy. 24 hours post onset of clinical sign, the lethargy stopped. On an unspecified date after application, the dog died. No necropsy was performed. Due to the sensitive nature of the communication, specific relevant event details were not obtained, nor will such be sought. The intent of the call was to ask about product use in general, and not to report the event. No further information is expected. This case is closed.

O - Unclassifiable/unassessable Reported lethargy is an unspecific sign and may have multiple potential other causes in an animal, it may represent a behavioral response to the product sensation. Time to onset is short. Death is inconsistent with pharmaco-toxicological product profile and experience. Product has wide margin of safety. The oral LD50 in rat is 642 mg/kg BW. 20-fold overdosage tolerated by dogs without showing any side effect. Moreover, the information regarding the death of the dog was provided during an inquiry and not to report the event. No necropsy was performed. Time to onset for death is unknown. Considering all aspects, a product relation for the case is unassessable.
