After the product was applied on October 2, 2018, the cat licked some of the product off and developed symptoms. Shortly after, the owner gave the cat a small meal and water and the cat's symptoms resolved. The owner then contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS assistant stated that the risk is for mild taste reaction and gastrointestinal (GI) upset from ingestion. The APSS assistant recommended the owner monitor for GI signs (watch for mild nausea or vomiting), manage vomiting (if vomiting occurs, nothing by mouth (NPO) for 1 hour, if okay then gradually reintroduce water and then food), and to call back with questions.
