On 30-Oct-2018, a 2 year old, 13 pound, female, Domestic Longhair feline, of unknown reproductive status and condition, with no known concomitant medical conditions, was administered 1 tube of Advantage II Large Cat (Imidacloprid-Pyriproxyfen) topically by the owner.

On 31Oct2018, the cat developed vomiting.
On 01Nov2018, the cat vocalized, developed respiratory arrest, and died. The cat was not examined by a veterinarian and no necropsy was preformed.

Vomiting is an unspecific sign and may have many potential causes. Sign is not expected after topical product use and oral product uptake was not witnessed. A reaction to accidentally ingested product cannot be excluded. Vocalization is an unspecific sign and may have various other causes. Respiratory arrest is neither expected nor inline with products pharmaco-toxicological profile. Death is inconsistent with pharmaco-toxicological product profile and experience. Product has wide margin of safety. Oral LD50 in rat is 642 mg/kg BW. 24-fold overdosage tolerated by cats without showing any side effect. Time to onset is short for vomiting however bit long for other signs. Considering all aspects, product relation is unassessable.
