On June 13, 2018 the dog ingested an unknown amount of this product. About 15 minutes later, the dog developed symptoms. The owner then took the dog to the regular veterinarian, however, the dog died before any treatment could be started. The veterinary technician then contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) veterinarian who stated that methomyl is a carbamate that is rapidly absorbed after ingestion, but does not accumulate in the tissues. The APSS veterinarian also stated that it does not "age" on the receptors like organophosphate's (OP's) do, so signs are often short-lived. The APSS veterinarian further stated that signs occur within minutes after ingestion and that dogs that ingest a large amount will often die within minutes of exposure.
