(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
Approximately 2 weeks post collar application, the feline died of a heart condition. It was unknown if a necropsy examination was performed. No further information is expected. This case is closed. Due to the sensitive nature of the communication, specific relevant event details were not obtained, nor will such be sought. The reason for the initial call was to discuss the use of the product on another pet and not to report the death in this event. Note: Previous application was well tolerated.
Death
N - Unlikely Death and heart condition are not expected following appropriate topical product application as inconsistent with product¿¿¿¿¿¿s pharmacological profile. Oral exposure to the collar is not expected to cause serious signs either. An overdose of 5 collars around the neck was investigated in adult cats and dogs for an 8 months period and in 10 week old kittens and 7 week old puppies for a 6 months period without causing serious signs. Heart condition was likely present already before the collar application and death could be related to this heart condition. Moreover, the previous application was well tolerated without showing any signs. Also, the intent of the caller was to not report the death of the cat, but to ask about the use of the product on another pet. Time to onset is long. Considering known product safety profile, and intent of the call, a product relation is considered unlikely.
