In the early morning on October 10, 2017, the owner's neighbor found the cat dead. A few hours later, the neighbor contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) whose veterinarian stated that products labeled for cats generally have low concentrations of pyrethroids and that this product would not have been expected to contribute to cause of death. The APSS veterinarian recommended the neighbor call back with questions.

The APSS veterinarian stated that the substance was considered to have a doubtful likelihood of causing the clinical situation. One hour later on October 10, 2017 an APSS veterinarian called the neighbor back to offer a necropsy but the neighbor declined.
