(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
On an unknown date in approximately Nov 2017, the cat was hit by a car and died. The cat was not examined by a veterinarian and no known necropsy was performed. Due to the sensitive nature, all of the information was not obtained and no further attempts will be made to obtain the information. The reason for the initail call was to discuss another pet in the home and not to report the death of this animal. No further information is expected. This case is closed.
Death
N-Unlikely: Death is not expected following appropriate topical product application as inconsistent with products pharmacological profile. Oral exposure to the collar is not expected to cause serious signs either. An overdose of 5 collars around the neck was investigated in adult cats and dogs for an 8 months period and in 10 week old kittens and 7 week old puppies for a 6 months period without causing serious signs. Product has wide margin of safety. In this case, the cat was hit by a car and died. Further, the reason for the initial call was to discuss another pet in the home and not to report the death of this animal. Time to onset is very long (approximately 4 months). Hence, overall, considering known safety profile of the product, product involvement considered unlikely. The reporting party contacted Bayer Animal Health to discuss another pet in the home and not to report the death of this animal; this case is closed.
