On May 31, 2017 the pet owner applied K9 Advantix II small dog to their 5 year old, female spayed, 3.2 kg Chihuahua. After application the dog began rolling and rubbing at the application site. The next day the muzzle was swollen. On June 2 the dog began vomiting and had diarrhea. The dog was examined by a veterinarian and was found to be dehydrated with an elevated canine pancreatic lipase. The dog was treated with Cerenia and metronidazole.
