On July 1, 2017 the cat developed symptoms. Shortly after, the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS technician stated that the risks are for ataxia, tremors, agitation, facial and ear twitching, seizures, hyperthermia, and potentially death. The APSS technician recommended the owner bathe the cat (with liquid dish washing detergent (LDWD) and keep her warm after the bath), monitor at home, take the animal to a veterinarian (if signs worsen, pet is not improving, or develops seizures or more than mild tremors), and to call back with questions.
