On approximately 01-Sep-2017, a kitten with unknown signalment, housed in an animal shelter environment, in unknown condition, with no known concomitant medical conditions, was administered a partial tube of Advantage II Large Cat (Imidacloprid-Pyriproxyfen) via the topical route by the veterinarian. On approximately 06Sep2017 the kitten died. No necropsy was performed. No new information is expected. This case is closed.

N - Unlikely Off label use- unauthorised dosage -other (partial pipette used). Reported death is inconsistent with pharmaco-toxicological product profile and experience. No signs of allergic/anaphylactic reaction reported. Product has wide margin of safety. Oral LD50 in rat is 642 mg/kg BW. 24-fold overdosage tolerated by cats without showing any side effect. Time to onset is long. Other causes are more likely. In the end, product relation is considered unlikely.
