(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
On an unspecified date in 2016, a feline with unknown signalmet, in unknown condition, with no known concomitant medical conditions, had 1 Seresto Cat (Flumethrin-Imidacloprid) collar placed around the neck by the owner. Approximately 7 months post collar placement, the cat developed vomiting and passed away. No necropsy was performed. No further information is expected. The case is closed.
Death
N - Unlikely Vomiting is unspecific and may have numerous other causes (e.g. gastrointestinal infection, dietary incompatibility). No oral product exposure reported. Further reported death is not expected following appropriate topical product application as inconsistent with products pharmacological profile. Even oral exposure to the collar is not expected to cause serious signs either. An overdose of 5 collars around the neck was investigated in adult cats and dogs for an 8 months period and in 10 week old kittens and 7 week old puppies for a 6 months period without causing serious signs. Moreover, the collar was well tolerated by the animal for a long duration. Time to onset is long. Even though some information (e.g. health status and necropsy results) is not available, considering the known safety profile of the product, a product involvement is deemed to be unlikely.
