Between January 8, 2017 and January 12, 2017 the cat developed inappetence. On January 10, 2017 the cat became lethargic. On January 13, 2017 the owner bathed the cat (with mild detergent). Shortly after, the cat died. On January 17, 2017 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS veterinarian stated if ingested, gastrointestinal (GI) upset and/or a taste reaction may occur. The APSS veterinarian further stated if this is alcohol based, there could be transient central nervous system (CNS) depression initially.
Death
The APSS veterinarian stated that the substance was considered to have a doubtful likelihood of causing the clinical situation. A necropsy was not available.

Shortly after the product application, the cat disappeared outside and was missing until January 16, 2017. The owner then bathed the cat (with mild detergent), the cat then developed lethargy. The owner then took the cat to the veterinary clinic, where she was given fluid therapy, and treatment for a hypersensitivity reaction (steroid). That evening, the cat died. On January 17, 2017 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS veterinarian further stated if this is alcohol based, there could be transient central nervous system (CNS) depression initially.
Death
The APSS veterinarian stated that the substance was considered to have a doubtful likelihood of causing the clinical situation. A necropsy was not available as the pet's body had already been buried.

On January 13, 2017 owner bathed the cat and then the cat developed symptoms. On January 16, 2017 the owner took the cat to the veterinary clinic, where fluid therapy and treatment for a hypersensitivity reaction (steriod) was given. Later that evening, the owner began giving the cat activated charcoal (water with activated charcoal), and oral electrolyte solution (Bounce Back). On January 17, 2017 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS veterinarian stated if ingested, gastrointestinal (GI) upset and/or a taste reaction may occur. The APSS veterinarian further stated if this is alcohol based, there could be transient central nervous system (CNS) depression initially. The APSS veterinarian recommended taking the cat to the veterinarian, having the veterinarian call for information, and calling back with questions.
Death
The APSS veterinarian stated that the substance was considered to have a doubtful likelihood of causing the clinical situation. On January 20, 2017 an APSS technician attempted to follow up with the owner on the case and left a message. On January 23, 2017 the owner called the APSS back and stated that the cat had passed away on January 18, 2017. The owner declined speaking with an APSS veterinarian. A necropsy was not available. Unknown if the veterinarian was consulted before used of this product on the geriatric cat.
