(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms

On approximately 28-Nov-2016, the feline died. It was unknown if the feline was examined by a veterinarian and no necropsy was performed. Due to the sensitive nature of the communication, specific relevant event details were not obtained, nor will such be sought. The reason for the initial contact by owner was to discuss expiration of the product and not to report the death in this event. No further information expected. This case is closed.

18. Severity classification (if there is more than 1 possible classification

Death

19. Provide supplemental information here

Death is not expected following appropriate topical product application as inconsistent with products pharmacological profile. Oral exposure to the collar is not expected to cause serious signs either. An overdose of 5 collars around the neck was investigated in adult dogs for an 8 months period without causing serious signs. No signs of anaphylaxis reported which would have occurred in close proximity to the collar application. Cat involved in this case was geriatric, and thus numerous underlying health conditions may be the cause for the death of this animal. Moreover, the reason for the initial phone call was to discuss expiration of the product and not to report the death in this event. In case of suspected product involvement case would have been reported in close proximity and not after long time (4 months). Even though some information is not available (e.g. animal details, time to onset, health status, medical history and necropsy report), considering known product profile a product relation is unlikely.
