On March 1, 2017 the pet owner applied advantage II small cat to their 5 year old Himalayan cat. The other cat in the home was treated and is not showing any symptoms. On March 2, 2017 the cat became lethargic and the symptoms progressed to decreased appetite and anorexia until March 6 when the cat was presented to the veterinarian. Treatment via fluid therapy was attempted but the cat was euthanized as the prognosis was dire.
