(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
1-46937202 - The reporter, a pet owner, indicated her dog may have been exposed to a rodenticide containing the active ingredient diphacinone (present in free form or as sodium salt). On the day of initial contact with the registrant, the reporter indicated her 4-pound, 2.5-month-old, male, Chihuahua dog might have eaten a single pellet of the product about four hours before the initial call. The reporter indicated the pellet had already passed in the dogs stool and the only symptom was shivering. The reporter was confident the dog did not have access to the product before the stated time. The reporter was advised that a single pellet was well over a toxic dose and he needed veterinary care. The reporter was also advised that symptoms from a toxic dose take 2-5 days to occur and shivering would not be expected. On follow-up call one day later, the reporter indicated the dog had died that morning and she had been unable to get him to the veterinarian. Before death, the dog vomited up some of the product. The reporter was encouraged to consider other causes of the pets death. No additional information is available.
