Calves (approx. 10 months old) were on self-feed pellets up until December 27th. Pellets were lentil screenings, and have been used in both 2015 and 2016. Feed ration was changed to barley chop on December 28th. Flax straw bedding has been used (since snowfall?). Flax source was a thin stand of flax crop this year, and had been pre-harvested late September with glyphosate. Straw has been processed and broken up into small pieces. Calves had eaten some of this material. Daughter called shortly after feed switch saying calves were going down and not doing well. Neighbor came over to help and observed calves were walking around in a drunken state glazed eyes, some had fallen over and appeared dead. Approximately 40 were treated, of which 8 died on the first day and 3 the next total 11 lost
