On August 19, 2016 the owner found the dog had developed symptoms. The owner then contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS veterinarian stated overuse of the spray can cause central nervous system (CNS) depression from the alcohol. The APSS veterinarian also stated these signs are more consistent with vestibular disease. The APSS assistant recommended taking the dog to the veterinarian (vestibular or drunk), having the veterinarian call for information, and calling back with questions.
