On September 25, 2016 the cat developed hypersalivation after application that lasted about 10 minutes. Shortly afterwards, the owner took the cat to the veterinary clinic. The owner then contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS veterinarian stated pyrethrins and methoprene have a wide margin of safety; ingestion may cause taste reactions or gastrointestinal (GI) upset. The APSS assistant recommended providing dilution, a taste treat (feed a small meal), monitoring for GI signs, and calling back with questions.
