On an unspecified date post application, in 2015, the dog died; no known necropsy was performed. No further information is expected. Case is closed. Follow up received on 19th Sep 2016: The intent of the call was not to report this event but to inquire on product use for another dog.

Death is not expected following appropriate topical product application as inconsistent with products pharmacological profile. Oral exposure to the collar is not expected to cause serious signs either. An overdose of 5 collars around the neck was investigated in adult cats and dogs for an 8 months period and in 10 week old kittens and 7 week old puppies for a 6 months period without causing serious signs. Other causes are more probable in this geriatric dog. In case of suspected involvement, sign would have been reported in close proximity and not a long time. Moreover, intent of the call was not to report the death but to inquire about use of product on another dog. Even though some information is not available (e.g. time to onset, health status, medical history and necropsy report) sufficient information exists to rule out product relation completely. Considering all aspects a product relation is unlikely.
