1-44657840 - The reporter, a pet owner, indicates his cat was exposed to an herbicide containing the active ingredient iron (present as FeHEDTA). The reporter stated he applied the diluted product to his lawn three days before initial contact with the registrant. The reporter indicated his 3-year-old, 10-pound, female Domestic Shorthair cat may have had contact with the area at some time, but the reporter did not witness any exposure. One day before initial contact with the registrant, the cat became lethargic, did not want to walk, was hot to the touch, was panting, did not want to eat, would growl when picked up, and seemed to be lost in her surroundings. On the day of initial contact with the registrant, he was advised to seek veterinary care for the cat as her symptoms were concerning. While it would be unlikely that the cat would get a toxic dose of the product from exposure to the treated area, other possibilities for the cause of the symptoms should be investigated. On follow-up call three days later, the reporter indicated the cat had also developed drooling so he brought her into the veterinarian. The cats exam was normal, and the reporter declined blood work. The reporter stated the cats symptoms were improving daily. No additional information is available.
