On an unknown date post application, in 2016, the dog died. It is unknown if a necropsy was performed. Due to the sensitive nature of the communication, limited information was obtained. Further attempts to gather additional information will not be made. The reporting party contacted Bayer Animal Health to inquire about a replacement collar and not to report the death of the patient. No further information expected.

18. Severity classification (if there is more than 1 possible classification

Death

19. Provide supplemental information here

Death is not expected following appropriate topical product application as inconsistent with products pharmacological profile. Oral exposure to the collar is not expected to cause death either. An overdose of 5 collars around the neck was investigated in adult cats and dogs for an 8 months period and in 10 week old kittens and 7 week old puppies for a 6 months period without causing serious signs. Further, reporting party does not believe product involvement as they contacted Bayer Animal Health to inquire about a replacement collar and not to report the death of the patient. Even though some information is not available (animal details, medical history, necropsy report and time to onset), sufficient information exists to rule out product relation completely. Overall, a product relation considered as unlikely.
