1-43694646 - The reporter, a pet owner, indicated that her dog may have been exposed to grass seed treated with the active ingredient mefenoxam. The reporter put out the grass seed on her lawn two days prior to initial contact with the registrant. The following day the reporter left her 1.5 year old, female Chihuahua dog alone on the lawn for a period of 5 minutes while she answered the phone. When she came back outside the dog was found dead. The reporter indicated that the dog had been completely fine prior to her leaving 5 minutes earlier. Although no direct exposure to the grass seed was indicated the reporter was concerned that walking on the applied grass seed may have been the reason for the dogs death. The reporter was advised that the described symptoms are not consistent with the described exposure to the product and a necropsy was recommended to determine an underlying cause for the dogs death. The reporter stated that she had submitted the dog for a necropsy but she did not yet have the results. The reporter could not be reached on routine follow-up attempts. No additional information is available.
