On January 21, 2015 the cat developed symptoms. On January 23, 2015 the owner gave the cat a taste treat (pet treats) and then contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS veterinarian stated ingestion can lead to mild gastrointestinal (GI) upset and taste reaction. The APSS veterinarian also stated paresthesia is possible following dermal exposure to pyrethrins. The APSS assistant recommended bathing the cat, monitoring mucous membrane color (check pet's gum color before bathing, should be pink gum color), taking the cat to the veterinarian (if the pet has another condition, have pet looked at), having the veterinarian call for information, and calling back with questions.
