1-42508152 - The reporter, a pet owner, indicated his two cats were exposed to a spot-on insecticide containing the active ingredient methoprene. The pet owner applied the product to his 3-year-old, 10 pound cat (Subform III #1) and to his 1 year old 10 pound cat (Subform III #2) on the day of initial contact. After the product was applied both cats started drooling and running around. At the time of the call symptoms had already resolved in both cats. No treatment was needed. The reporter was advised that the active ingredient in the product has little to no toxicity in mammals but with ingestion short-term drooling can occur because of the unpleasant taste. No further information is available.
