On August 4, 2015 the cat became lethargic. On August 5, 2015 the owner found the cat dead. On August 22, 2015 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) after receiving the phone number from the company via an email response. The APSS veterinarian stated products labeled for cats have low dose pyrethroids/pyrethrins. The APSS veterinarian also stated no significant signs are expected when used per label directions. The APSS veterinarian recommended obtaining additional information (if container is found, call with EPA and lot numbers), calling back with questions, and stated a necropsy was not possible due to the timeframe.
Death
The APSS veterinarian stated that the substance was considered to have a doubtful likelihood of causing the clinical situation.
