On July 10, 2015 the owner found the dog having seizures and took the dog to the veterinarian. The owner's friend then called the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) and stated they believe 1 teaspoon of the product was ingested. The APSS veterinarian stated methomyl is a hot carbamate insecticide with a narrow margin of safety. The APSS veterinarian stated onset is generally rapid. The APSS assistant recommended having the veterinarian call for information and calling back with questions. Before the APSS assistant could provide the case number, the caller stated the dog just died and disconnected the call.
