Limited information was provided by the reporting party in the initial e-mail communication; attempts to obtain further details have been unsuccessful to date. On an unknown date in 2014, a canine, of unknown signalment and condition, with no known concomitant medical conditions, had 1 Seresto Dog (unspecified) (Flumethrin- Imidacloprid) collar placed around the neck by the owner.

An unknown time post collar application, in 2014, the dog began to chew on rubber and plastic. An unknown time post onset of sign in 2014, the dog chewed through an electrical cord and died. It is unknown if a necropsy was performed. No further information is expected. This case is closed.

Reported behavioural sign is unspecific and may have other numerous causes in dog. Time to onset is unknown. Death is not expected following appropriate topical product application as inconsistent with products pharmacological profile. Oral exposure to the collar is not expected to cause death either. Moreover its clearly mentioned that dog died due to chewing electrical cord. In case of suspected product involvement, adverse event would have been reported in close proximity and not long time after. Even though limited information is available, considering overall aspects, a product relation is deemed to be unlikely.
