(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
On 10 Aug 2015, the dog was vomiting, shaking, ataxic, anorexic and incontinent. The pet sitter removed the collar and bathed the dog in dawn dish soap. The dog was not examined by a veterinarian and passed away at the home. No known necropsy was performed. No more information is expected. This case is closed.
Death
Reported clinical signs and death of are not expected with appropriate topical product administration as inconsistent with products pharmaco-toxicological profile. Time to onset not suggestive of product involvement. Collar was tolerated well for 10 days. Signs are suggestive of other unrelated causes, e.g. gastrointestinal disorders, trauma. Even with oral product exposure, reported signs would not be expected. An overdose of 5 collars around the neck was investigated in adult cats and dogs for an 8 months period and in 10 week old kittens and 7 week old puppies for a 6 months period without causing serious signs. Information is limited as unclear if collar was correctly applied and no animal details or past medical history known. Although product involvement was deemed unlikely due to reported time to onset and clinical signs reported, due to limited information case was considered unassessable.
