(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
The owner applied the agent at the base of the bed posts and suspects that the cat went to the bedroom when the kids left the door open on 7/4. The owner is not positive that the cat was exposed to the agent but suspects that it might be possible since symptoms started after that. He also goes outside, sometimes overnight, and the owner thinks that it could be possible that he got into something else. Today the cat did not vomit and looks like he ate his food that was in his dish. He likes to drink water from the toilet and it is just water no chemicals. (by AP on Jul 07, 2015 at 09:55 AM)] The animal owner was advised that Silicon dioxide is a form of diatomacious earth. As an insecticide, silicon dioxide acts as an abrasive dessicant. Silicon dioxide is in Toxicity Category III. Beyond mild GI upset, no significant clinical signs are expected. The owner states that he asked his neighbor who is a vet and she told him that the signs the cat is exhibiting are related to the product and that the cat would improve from the exposure slowly. On 7/12, the cat started making significant improvements. I let the owner know that we recommend that the cat go to a vet for treatment and that our assessment was that the product was doubtful to cause the signs that they were seeing.
