(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
1-41582853 - The reporter, a pet owner, indicated that her cat was exposed to a spot-on insecticide containing the active ingredient methoprene. The reporter applied the product to her 3-year-old, 10 pound, male cat fourteen days prior to initial contact with the registrant. Three to four days later the cat became inappetent. Two days prior to initial contact (12 days after the product was applied) the cat stopped eating completely. One day prior to her call the cat stopped getting up and then he passed away. Caller applied the same product to another cat in her home and that cat did not develop any symptoms. The reporter was advised that the active ingredients in the product have little to no toxicity in mammals and the described symptoms are not expected from normal use of the product. There is likely some other cause for the animals death but without pre-mortem diagnostics or post mortem necropsy it is impossible to determine the cause of death. No additional information is available.
