(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
Immediately post application the cat exhibited behavioral change. Two weeks post application in June 2014 the cat exhibited application site alopecia, application site burn, application site excoriation, application site scabs. The collar was removed. The clinical signs continued. No diagnostics or treatments were performed. One week later in July 2014 the cat died. No necropsy was performed and cause of death is unknown. No more information is expected. Case is closed.
Death
N - Unlikely. Though behavioral change may have various other causes, it may occur initially after collar administration. Transient mild application site disorders may occur in particularly sensitive animals shortly after product application. Scratching/self-trauma may have contributed to signs. Time to onset a bit long though. Death is not expected following appropriate topical product application as inconsistent with products pharmacological profile. Oral exposure to the collar is not expected to cause death either. No signs of anaphylaxis reported which would have occurred in close proximity to the collar application. Death occurred one week after collar removal and thus a relation to the collar can be excluded. No necropsy was performed. Considering the provided data, sufficient information exists to confirm that the product did not cause the event and product involvement was ruled out and considered as unlikely.
