On an unknown date in 2012, a 6 pound feline of unknown age, sex, breed, and condition, with no known concomitant medical conditions, was administered 1 tube of Advantage II Large Cat (Imidacloprid-Pyriproxyfen) topically by the owner. This was an overdose for the cat's weight.

Approximately 1 hour after product application, the cat developed an abnormal behavior. Approximately 3 hours after product application, the cat recovered without medical intervention. Approximately 2 months after product application, the cat was bit on the leg by another cat, developed a skin infection at the bite wound, and then died. A necropsy examination was not performed. The reason for the initial call was to discuss the expiration date of the product and not to report the death of the patient. No further information is expected. This case is closed.
