On October 6, 2014 the dog ate the bait. The owner found the dog recumbent and unresponsive and took the dog to the veterinarian. Upon arrival, the attending veterinarian performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The dog died while consulting with the APSS veterinarian so no further treatment recommendations were provided.
