On December 16, 2013 the owner noticed that the cat was drooling. A short time later that evening the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that the risk was that oral exposure could result in a taste reaction and gastrointestinal (GI) upset. The APSS assistant recommended that the owner monitor the cat for GI signs, manage any vomiting by removing food and water for 30 minutes and slowly reintroduce water and then food, give the cat a taste treat, prevent further exposure to the product, bathe the cat with liquid dish washing detergent (LDWD) and rinse well, and call back with questions or if GI signs were more than mild.
