On June 11, 2014 the dog had an episode of diarrhea. Later that day, the owner bathed the puppy with liquid dish washing detergent. On June 12, 2014 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help before the puppies appointment at the veterinary clinic. The APSS veterinarian stated ingestion of the shampoo may cause vomiting and diarrhea. The APSS veterinarian also stated she suspects the puppy's signs may be due to stress or parasites. The APSS assistant recommended taking the puppy to the veterinarian, having the veterinarian call for information, and calling back with questions.
