On October 9, 2014 the owner noticed the cat was symptomatic. The owner called the on-call veterinarian, who recommended removing the collar and bathing the cat, which the owner did. On October 10, 2014 the cat had fully recovered. A few hours later, the veterinary staff contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS veterinarian stated she would not expect respiratory signs, unless the cat is sensitive to the plastic or the powder. The APSS veterinarian stated no additional treatment was necessary and referred the veterinary back to the manufacturer (about possible reimbursement for the owner), and recommended calling back with questions.
