(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
1-39014865 - The reporter, a pet owner, indicated that his cat was exposed to a spot-on insecticide containing the active ingredient methoprene. The reporter applied the product to his three cats four days prior to initial contact with the registrant. Two of the callers cats did not develop any symptoms after the exposure but the reporters 2-year-old, female, 10 pound domestic shorthaired cat (Subform III #3) disappeared on the day the product was applied and was found three days later in the reporters sons room. When the cat was found she was just lying there, she would not get up and she was very weak. They brought the cat to the veterinary clinic where it was found to be dehydrated and at the time of the initial call the cat was hospitalized on intravenous fluids and antibiotics. On follow-up call, three days later, the reporter indicated that his cat passed away at the veterinary clinic. The reporter was advised that the product has little to no toxicity in mammals and a necropsy was recommended to help determine an underlying cause for the cats death but it was declined. No further information is available.
