1-37967772 - The reporter, a pet owner, indicated that his cat may have been exposed to an insecticide containing the active ingredient permethrin. The reporter applied the product around the baseboard of her house one day prior to initial contact with the registrant. During product application the reporters cat was kept away from the application site but on the morning of initial contact the reporters 10 year old, 7 pound cat was vomiting, had diarrhea and was lethargic. The reporter was advised that the product has a wide margin of safety but with ingestion transient gastrointestinal irritation is possible. Veterinary care was recommended for any severe or persistent symptoms. The reporters veterinarian called later the same day and indicted that blood work showed the cat had an ALT of greater than 1000 (high normal is 130 on their machine) and a GGT of 6 (high normal is 1 on their machine). The veterinarian was advised that exposure to this product would not adversely affect liver values and additional diagnostics were recommended to determine an underlying cause and appropriate treatment for the cats illness. No further information is available.
