(eg. description of the frequency and severity of the symptoms
1-36565161 - The reporter, a pet owner, indicated that her cat was exposed to a spot-on insecticide containing the active ingredient methoprene. The reporter applied the product to her 6-year-old, 20 pound, male cat four days prior to initial contact with the registrant. Within 4 hours of application the cat was lethargic and twenty four hours later the cat started to have seizures. The cat was stabilized at an emergency clinic and then brought to her regular veterinarian where the cat continued to have seizures for 72 hours and then passed away on the morning of initial contact. The reporter was advised that the product has little to no toxicity in mammals and the described symptoms are not expected after exposure. A necropsy was recommended to help determine the cause for the described symptoms. But this was declined by the pet owner. No further information is available.
