On October 17, 2013 the owner noticed that the dog had an abnormal gait, was symptomatic. The owner immediately took the dog to an emergency veterinarian, where the dog was bathed and given a topical flea treatment. On the morning of October 18, 2013 the dog no longer had an abnormal gait and was no longer ataxic; however, the dog was still trembling and the owner also noticed that the dog was lethargic. Later that day the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS technician stated that some animals can be more sensitive to the ingredients in the product. The APSS technician recommended that the owner apply vitamin E to the application area, monitor the dog at home for continued or worsening signs, monitor the dog for dermatological signs or redness and irritation, and call back with questions or if signs persisted or worsened.
