On October 15, 2013 the cat was observed was symptomatic. Later that day the owner's cousin contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that if the product was ingested often signs of hypersalivation and retching will occur; if the ingestion was large, central nervous system (CNS) depression and ataxia could occur due to the alcohol carriers. The APSS assistant recommended that the owner take the cat to the veterinarian, have the veterinarian call for information, and call back with questions.
