On October 2, 2013 the owner noticed that the kitten was symptomatic. Later that day the owner's friend contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that cats are very sensitive to Permethrin, and cases exist in which social contact between cats and dogs did lead to signs consistent with Permethrin exposure. The APSS technician recommended that the owner take the kitten to the veterinarian and have the veterinarian call for information.

Later that day the owner's friend contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that cats are very sensitive to Permethrin, and cases exist in which social contact between cats and dogs did lead to signs consistent with Permethrin exposure. The APSS technician recommended that the owner monitor the cat at home and stated that no further treatment was necessary since the cat was asymptomatic.
