On September 22, 2013 the owner noticed that the dog had pruritus and was experiencing a behavior change, seeming to be more agitated and shaking herself as if shaking off water. On September 23, 2013 the dog had recovered. On September 28, 2013 the owner noticed that the dog had dermatitis. Later that day the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS technician stated that some animals can be more sensitive to the ingredients in the product and can experience a dermal reaction. The APSS technician recommended that the owner bathe the dog with a liquid dish washing detergent (LDWD), apply vitamin E to the application area, apply a cold compress to the application area, discuss other flea treatment options with her regular veterinarian, monitor for dermatological signs of infection, and call back with questions.
