On September 14, 2013 the owner noticed that the cat was symptomatic. The owner removed the collar about an hour later, and the owner noticed that the cat's pruritus was milder that afternoon. On September 20, 2013 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that topical flea products can cause pruritus, alopecia, or erythema at the application site and that signs generally resolve within a few days. The APSS technician recommended that the owner discontinue the use of the product, consult with a veterinarian about alternative flea and tick control, and call back with questions.
