On September 8, 2013 the owner noticed that the cat was drooling; the owner then patted the cat's skin with a damp paper towel. A few minutes later the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that a taste reaction could be seen. The APSS assistant recommended that the owner monitor the cat at home for gastrointestinal (GI) signs of a mild taste reaction, give the cat a taste treat, and call back with questions.
