On July 24, 2013 the owner noticed that the cat was symptomatic. The owner gave the cat a small meal with water and wiped the cat's mouth, and a few minutes later the cat had fully recovered. Later that day the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that if the product is ingested, mild gastrointestinal (GI) upset and/or a taste reaction could occur. The APSS technician told the owner that no additional treatment was necessary and recommended that the owner bathe the cat with liquid dish washing detergent (LDWD) if the cat continued to have taste reactions from licking/grooming and, if the taste reactions continued, consult with her regular veterinarian to discuss alternative products to use.
